First Christmas card of 2011
Hi again
Today's card is my first Christmas card for 2011 - yes, I know, I've started early, but having got SO behind in 2010 I thought I'd start the way I mean to go on, and make a few Christmas cards each month - bet it doesn't last, lol.
The gold backing paper was a gift absolutely ages ago, so I have no idea where it came from. The music paper however, is a different story - my LOVELY friend Tash, kindly gave me this fabulous stamp from Whimsy as part of my Christmas present - I think it's one of those that I'm going to use LOADS!! (Thanks again, Tash). I embossed it with WOW embossing powder - the first time I've used this stuff, and it's BRILLIANT! Note to self: get some more in different colours. The little gold seal was made with a Papermania seal set that I bought in the sales LAST year, but didn't get around to using in 2010, as it was one of those things that needs a bit of practice to get the hang of, and I just didn't seem to have the time. However, I'm really pleased with it now that I've mastered it, so expect to see it cropping up a lot on Christmas cards for this year. Just as an aside, can anyone tell me, do I have to use the wax sticks from the set, or would any other candle wax work just as well???? The image is of course LOTV. The flowers are die cut with Marianne Creatables poinsettia dies. The leaves are an MS punch, and the tiny gold spirally bits are wire - I bought a couple of bags (one gold, one silver) from a cheapy shop just before Christmas, just liked the look of them, but didn't realise they were actually very fine wire - thought they were a sort of tinsel, but when stretched out they're great for adding a little something extra to a card - not bad at 50p for a huge bag full! All the white papers were distressed lightly, and then I added Stickles in gold around the edge of the gold paper to add a bit more dimension. Oh, nearly forgot to say - the card was cut with a new Go Kreate die which once again my LOVELY hubby bought me for Christmas - I love it!!
Do let me know what you think, if you have time.
Hugs
