Pickles & Onion

Today once again I'm using up images I coloured ages ago.  This time it's Pickles & Onion the adorable elephants.  The pink patterned paper is from Papermania's  'Sweet Nothings' set, and the spots from Daisy & Dandelion, 'Picnic Patch'.  The sentiment is from Cuddly Buddly.  I won't even mention what I coloured them with, as you'll all know by now!

Teen Birthday

Today I have another image that I coloured in ages ago but never got around to making a card with at the time.  It's been sitting in a box with several others, and as it's the new year I figured I should clear out and tidy up, so it was either a case of throw the image away, or do something with it.  As it turned out, this card came together really quickly.  I just happened to have a sketch to hand that used just the amount of different papers that I had, and that always makes it easier.  I decided that as the card is aimed at a young girl, or  teen, I would keep it free of fussy embellishments, and I'm glad to say that I'm pleased with the end result, hope you like it too.

Golfer's Birthday Card

Hi again

I can't believe that I'm posting twice in one day, but I've been busy since Christmas, and have finished off one or two cards that have been hanging around for a while.

Now before anyone emails me and says 'I've seen this card before', I should explain that I made one very similar to this a few months ago for our wonderful friend Nigel, who looks after the  house in Spain for us.  However, as I keep getting asked to make more cards for men I thought I might start with this one, and then build from there.

Stamps (golfer, and golf bag) are by Papermania.  Papers are some from the first set I ever bought, also by Papermania. Colouring as always - Copics  The background card is actually navy blue, although it looks more like black in the pic, and of course I've backed it with my favourite - silver mirri card.   Sentiment is from a ready made set I bought a while back - you might have gathered that I'm trying use up some of my old stash to make way for all the new goodies I've bought recently. 

Whiff of Joy - Apples

You might remember from yesterday's card that 5 x 7 is not my favourite sixed card to work with, but I bought a couple of boxes of this size cards and envelopes a while back, and figured I should use them up.  So I'm hoping that you'll think they're O.K.

I coloured in this image along with several others a while back, before I realised that it's much easier to match your colouring to the papers you've chosen, rather than the other way around.  Durr!!  Anyway, I think this paper (sorry, I've forgotten who it's by), goes quite well with it, and I decided to go with red rather than green to give the card a little extra colour.  The sentiment is part of a stamp from Catslife Press.  I say part of a stamp, because I cut a most of the circle off  to achieve the effect I wanted, but the complete stamp is really nice too.

The little button type embellishments and the corners are done with a set of dies by Spellbinders, and then sanded to emphasise the embossed effect.  Colouring - Copics.

Happy New Year ! Fragile Beauty

First of all I'd like to wish everyone who kindly takes the time to check out my blog a very Happy New Year.  Let's hope it's healthy and prosperous too!!

Right, that said, I have a new card to show you.  It's a bit out of my comfort zone, firstly because it's a 5 x 7, as opposed to square, and I'm sure you'll all have realised that square it my 'thing'.  I also decided to play around and stamped onto patterned paper - shock, horror!  I've never done this before, and as it was my treasured MME supplies, I was really hesitant, but what the heck, if you don't try something new from time to time, you only end up stuck in a rut, and to quote my daughter 'if you always do, what you've always done, then you'll always get, what you've already got!!!  Think about it!

I also did some stitching, and again went for something different with wiggly lines instead of straight - much easier to hide mistakes this way, lol. 

The leaves were picked up off of the local market a while back.  At the time I bought them I loved the colour, but when I got them home I couldn't think what I'd ever use them on - now I know!  I finished it off with a flower and button from my stash.  I threaded a couple of bits of wire through the button, and then twisted them around a cocktail stick, just to add something a bit different, and finally added a sentiment from a clear set by Hero Arts  (they're on special offer at the moment).

Christmas Easel Card - Mistletoe & Mice

Evening folks

Just thought I'd share the Christmas card I made for my wonderful hubby, which I've only just got around to photographing.  I promise this will be my final Christmas card for 2009.  This is only the second easel card that I've made, and I found it really tricky to get a picture of.  I really enjoyed making it though, so I guess I'm likely to make more of them, and with any luck the pics will get better. 

The stamp is Mistletoe and Mice by Gillian Roberts, and is on sale with 20% off at the moment at Quixotic Paperie.  The paper is MME from the Colorful Christmas range.  The mistletoe embellishments I drew and cut out, as I didn't have a die to use.  It was a bit fiddly, but I've already ordered a die ready to use with this stamp for next year.  Mistletoe berries were made with my usual method of waxing the back of a piece of card, punching out a circle, and then embossing it in circular movements from the back.  Colouring, was of course done with Copics, and the sentiments were computer generated.

Paul was really pleased with the card, and laughed out loud at the added sentiment at the bottom - well, you have to make these things personal, don't you, lol.

Dapper Dan

Hi there peeps,

hope you had a great Christmas, and got lots of lovely pressies. 

I'm showing you one of my last minute cards today, made for my eldest granddaughter, who is 8 (going on 18, bless her).  I was really pleased with the way this one came out, and Abi obviously felt the same way, as she was over the moon with it.  The stamp is 'Dapper Dan', from High Hopes.  He was a late, pre-Christmas purchase, and when he arrived, he was so cute I just had to make Abi's card with him.

My darling hubby spoilt me with new crafting goodies, one of which was a set of the new Martha Stewart, border and edge punches  - Rings -  I had a play with it today, (my back wasn't playing ball yesterday and I had to spend the afternoon in bed), and I absolutely LOVE it!  It is SO EASY to use, and match up, so I think you might be seeing it in quite a few of my upcoming cards.  Today I just used it to repair a Christmas card that I messed up - it'll do for next year now, lol. 

I also had some more COPICS - Yipee!  And a couple of sets of nesties that I'd been craving, not to mention a laminator, which I've been hoping for, so I think you can safely say I have plenty of new toys to keep me busy.
