Penny Black for Chrissy

Hi peeps

I made this card for my friend Chrissy's birthday.  She's also a card maker, so I hope she's going to like it.  It's the first time I've used a Penny Black stamp for a while, but when I saw the set with this cute little hedgehog in, I just simply couldn't resist. The set is called 'Tiny Wishes', and I can see it's going to be one of those that I come back to, time and time again.

Unfortunately, it didn't photograph as well as I would have liked, but the light at the moment is awful, so you'll have to trust me when I tell you that the blue of Mrs Hedgehog's dress DOES match the blue of the paper, and flowers.

Now I hope you're sitting down, as I have some shocking news ...................... I actually painted the hedgehog with distress inks, and NOT Copics!!!  I hope that hasn't given anyone a heart attack, you all being so used to Copics being my only form of colouring over the last few months, but I've seen quite a few people use the distress inks for colouring lately, and thought I'd just give it a try for a change.  I like the effect, but do prefer my Copics!!!

Our 11th Anniversary

Hi there

Today, if it's the 3rd February, and I've scheduled this post correctly is our 11th Wedding Anniversary.  I always find it really hard doing cards for Paul, but as when I first met him, he had a moustache that made him look like a 'Grumpy' ted, I often end up giving him some sort of teddy card.  Hope he likes this one.

It doesn't show up in the picture, but the teddies have been decoupaged, just to give the card a bit of lift.  The champagne glasses, and sentiment are both peel offs, making this a really simple, but hopefully effective card.

We're still in Spain at present, but as it's also Paul's birthday today (I married him on his birthday, so he wouldn't forget our anniversary, lol), there will be another post later.

Anniversary card for Tasha & Paul

I'm hoping that this card will have become available for you to view on January 31st, as I am currently in Spain, and set this post automatically, so fingers crossed.

I made this for my Docrafting friend Tasha, and her husband Paul.  Like me, she's a mad Tilda fan, so I hope she'll like it. 

The papers are from the Basic Grey, Porcelain set, which I've been stroking for months, but thought as it was a special occasion I would break them out.  I love the pink and green colour combo, it feels really springlike and fresh.  Tilda & Edwin were of course coloured with Copics.  The flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the sentiment is computer generated, then the top layer cut out with Nesties.  The other layers were hand cut by eye.

20th Anniversary Card

Hi there friends

Today I'd like to show you an anniversary card that I made as a commission.  The order came from a friend of a friend, so I hope they like it!!!  All I was told was that it was for a 20th anniversary, the names of the recipients, and that they wanted something 'traditional', so hopefully this fits the bill.

The base papers are from Papermania's 'Exquisite' collection.  They're so pretty and elegant that I figured they would be perfect for a wedding or anniversary.  I didn't want to put the champagne glasses against a totally plain background, so made up my own paper on the computer by just typing the couple's names over and over, and am quite pleased with the effect.  The sentiment was computer generated, and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The Leaves were made with the ash punch, from Leone Em.  The glasses are from the Magnolia Winter Stamp Club collection 2008.  They were coloured with copics, and then I embossed them all over with clear embossing powder to give them a shine like proper glass.  Unfortunately, I made the mistake of trying to give the glass in the foreground depth by glueing it on using silicone glue.  I went out for a while, and when I came back, was HORRIFIED to find that the silicone had come through the card leaving greasy marks all over the glass, and papers!!!  After turning the air blue, I sat down to assess the damage, and figured that if I could remove the background circles which were stuck on with DST, I just might be able to salvage the rest of the card, so I warmed them up slightly using my hot air gun, and luckily managed to remove them and the bottom champagne glass without damaging the rest of the card - phew!  What a relief!

Gemma's Tilda Card

Evening everyone

Today I would like to show you a card made by Gemma, my middle granddaughter, who is 7 1/2 years old.  She loves crafting, and is VERY precise and careful withe her colouring.  She came round last week when they were off school because of the snow, and told me that she wanted to make REALLY NICE cards like Nana's so that she could sell them and make lots of money!!!  I suggested that she might like to try using a sketch, to give her some ideas, so she had a look through my book, and came up with this one, in which she's used one of the new Tilda stamps that she had for Christmas, and a selection of the coloured card that I got her from The Papermill Shop.  She even insisted on putting a 'Handmade by Gemma' label on the back!!

Kelly's ALMOST Birthday Card!!

Afternoon all!

I thought I'd share the card that I originally intended for my daughter Kelly's birthday on the 23rd of this month.  Unfortunately, while I quite like the finished article, it didn't turn out how I expected - you know, sometimes cards just have a way of doing their own thing????  Well, mine do!!

Anyway, I decided it wasn't quite what I wanted for her, so this will be one to add to the 'cards for sale' box.  Knowing Kelly and her love of purple, she'll probably buy it for one of her friends.

I have made another card for her, which I'll be posting after the event, as I'd hate her to see it in advance in the UNLIKELY event that she EVER gets around to checking out my blog!! 

The stamp is 'Party Girl', from Wild Rose Studio.  The trellis type trim is made using my deep edge punch from Martha Stewart, available at The Hobby House.  Rose from Hobbycraft.  I think the ticket stamp is from Hero Arts, and not sure who the other sentiment , or the paper are by.
